P.O.D.

Biography

I P.O.D. they are an American alternative metal band, formed in San Diego in 1992.

The name of the band is the acronym of Payable on Death, an expression that indicates a particular type of current account, whose stock is donated to charity in the event of the death of the account holder. In reality they have chosen this abbreviation more than anything else for a religious reason: in fact the expression Payable On Death also refers to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, who according to the Christian faith has sacrificed himself for the sins of humanity.

In their music the P.O.D. they have rap, funk and heavy metal as their main references, but they also have elements from reggae, dub, hardcore punk, latin music and soul. Over the years their style has known various nuances, passing from the early metal rap music to nu metal sounds, alternative metal and alternative rock, always with a strong reggae influence. I P.O.D. cite as their main inspirers Carlos Santana, Bad Brains, Eek-A-Mouse, Bob Marley, Korn, The Police, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine and Black Sabbath.
