Gamma Ray

Biography

For more than twenty years, this band from Hamburg have delivered impressive statements of their own musical philosophy. Heading For Tomorrow (1989) was an awesome debut album by the group surrounding vocalist/guitarist Kai Hansen , their 1995 offering Land Of The Free still being considered a milestone in uptempo melodic metal, followed byLand Of The Free II in 2007 as its by no means less impressive successor. In between those two releases came highlights such as Somewhere Out In Space (1997), Powerplant (1999) and the three successive power packs, No World Order (2001), Skeletons In The Closet (2003), Majestic (2005), plus the following To The Metal (2010), which had Gamma Ray tour the globe several times, celebrated by their enthusiastic following. There’s hardly a renowned metal festival where Gamma Ray haven’t rocked the crowds, hardly an international magazine which hasn’t featured at least one Gamma Ray title story over the years. Gamma Ray mark 2012 are an established metal institution who have never rested on their laurels, always searching for new challenges.
